Global education is learning the concepts and skills to interact among and understand other cultures. It's about being intentional in what we teach our students to enable them to take part in shaping a better future that we can all share.
These skills are critical for our youth today. We live in the 21st century and it is imperative for our children to be globally competent and citizens of the world. We must arm them with the knowledge and skills to recognize diverse perspectives, communicate ideas, take action, and investigate the world, the four components to being globally competent. With these skills they can leave the safety and comfort of their homes and schools and face an ever changing world and be competitive in the workforce. Our students need to be creative thinkers and problem solvers. They need the skills to be able to clearly and confidently communicate with individuals from diverse cultures.
